Why should I buy this course when there are already other companies out there offering similar services?
It is true, there are a hand full of really good tax return preparation firms out there. Most of them require you to submit your personal data into their servers and they spit out the tax forms for you.
We will help you to overcome your fear of preparing your own tax returns by giving you clear explanations and instructions. Decision maps will help you make the best reporting decisions to lower your tax bill, nor will you need to have your information on someone else's computers. You keep your own records and maintain your privacy.
And you will only pay one time. You will be armed with the knowledge and understanding to continue doing your own taxes from now on, and never pay another person or company annually to do it for you.
What if I have a very complex situation and I can't get my tax return completed through this course?
We will do our best to help you resolve your situation and/or we will refer you to one of our CPAs for advice.
What is your refund policy?
We want you to be able to file your tax forms correctly. Come back to us within 14 days of purchase, and share your progress. We want to know that you made an efort.
How long will this course take?
This course is self-paced, but remember, IRS has its own deadlines. If you binge listen, it shouldn't take more than 5-6 hours. But remember, you'll have to slow down and fill each form line-by-line. We recommend that you give yourself a few weeks and work at a slow and steady pace.
For whom is this course intended?
This is for American expats living abroad who own foreign-based businesses. We primarily serve small and medium-sized businesses. Bigger businesses (S-Corps) tend to get very complex and need much more attention, forms to be filed and closer scrutiny.
For how long do I have log-in access?
You will have lifetime access. Feel free to come back next year, rinse and repeat. All forms and info will be updated annually according to IRS regulations.
Do I need prior tax know-how?
No, you don't. We all have to start somewhere. You will learn the ins-and-outs of tax preparation that is unique to our situation.
Can I fill the forms online?
Yes, you can. We will provide a full library of the editable PDF forms you might possibly need. We do recommend that you first print them out and work through them manually, then go back and digitize them.
Will I be able to e-file?
Unfortunately, we are still waiting for our e-file provider application to be approved by IRS. Fingers crossed this happens before April 18th, but most likely we will be in time for June 15th. Until then, you'll have to print your forms and drop them off with an international courier (FedEx/DHL). While this may delay a response from IRS, you can be confident that your taxes will be correctly filled.
What if I miss a filing deadline?
Expats get an automatic extension to file until June 15. If you anticipate being later than this, you will have to send the IRS a letter letting them know you're going to be late. No worries. We have an extension request templates ready for you to download, edit and send.
